The most valuable lesson I've learned from Gracie is to always trust in God. She litterally has redefined my faith. I believe we all share the same fears at some point or another and I think it is important to share those fears so that others know its okay to fear. The article was written very nicely. As I write this I'm thinking about some of my experiences in dealing with a system that itself has not been planful. We MUST make sure that as our family members age, and medical advances occur, that a mindset (which is already in place) of euthanasia for people with disabilities not move forward. So very true. And I think part of having a sibling with special needs is that our children will grow to be more compassionate and less selfish than the rest of the world. I have friends whose brother has T21 and the siblings fight over who he is going to stay with next. There are 3 of them and they each have him for 4 months of the year. It can be done...IF we trust! And I'm glad we do sister! Love you! Wonderfully put Connie. So very true.
